Positive Discipline Workshop

I didn't want to be permissive, but yet I didn't want to be a military person. I want my children to follow  because they want to, not because they are afraid. Where to start?

Then I remembered I first encountered the word Positive Discipline upon reading about Montessori teaching.

What is Positive Discipline? “Positive Discipline is not about punishment or control. Rather it is about instructing, educating, preparing, training, regulating, skill building, and focusing on solutions.”
Excerpt From: Jane Nelsen, Ed.D., Lynn Lott, M.A., M.F.T., and H. Stephen Glenn. “Positive Discipline A–Z.” Crown, 2007. iBooks.

It was further discussed by Jane Nelsen in her book. Here are some free downloads, to get a better understanding, read the book.

I attended a workshop the covered the basics of it for toddlers and preschoolers.

The workbook is a perfect way to discuss with a co-parent at home.

The tool cards, which can be bought as an app (since the cards are not available locally) is a summary key points and the blog also follows some examples as discussed per card. You may read one card per week.

I share this information to inspire parents. and when you are loosing your cool, try a tip or two from this book. It has saved my sanity for quite some time! :)

Now reading: Positive Discipline A-Z and Positive Discipline for Preschoolers.
